Chilling moment oblivious surfer walks just feet away from massive shark in shallow water as horrified beachgoers scream

AN OBLIVIOUS surfer faced a chilling moment as he walked just feet away from a massive shark in shallow water as horrified beachgoers screamed to get his attention.

The Aussie bloke was out surfing and had no idea he was so close to a potentially fatal meeting with the beast.

A viral clip shows the mad moment the man was walking back through the water at Manly Beach in Sydney when a menacing fin popped up next to him.

His friend just about steered clear of the two metre predator and stared in disbelief as they hurried off.

The man was blissfully unaware until people pointed at the shark and screamed at him to get out of the water fast.

The video ends with him quickly hopping onto his board and quickly exiting the scene, avoiding any gruesome trouble with the sharp toothed fish.

A shark alarm was sounded on as the beach was evacuated and the sandy Australian shores emptied until the shark swam away.

Ravid Rudner who took the video and posted it online told local media: “At one point I looked up and saw a young family pointing into the water.

“It was a shark fin and tail thrashing in the shallow water, maybe five metres from the sand.

“People on the shore were signalling to him to quickly get out.”

Luckily the man at this point realised the danger he was in and the lifeguards on duty acted fast.

Rudner continued: “By that time a lifeguard had entered the water on his rescue board and positioned himself between the swimmer and the shark.

“The shark had been circling around and my impression is that it was a little stranded and trying to make its way back out to sea.

“Eventually it did and that’s when I stopped filming. It was all very relaxed and interesting rather than scary.”

Drone footage of the incident showed the shark was ushered away from the beach by a lifeguard on a jetski.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt and beachgoers were back on the popular beach soon after.

Bill Collett from the nearby Australian Reptile Park claimed that the scary shark was actually only a grey nurse shark.

According to Australian officials, despite the shark having a nasty set of teeth, they are “very placid in nature” and harmless towards people.

The endangered species are often seen close to shores as they hunt for salmon.

Other reports have called it a dusky whaler that again have never been known to hurt a human before.

However, this is far from the most frightening shark encounter for to hit Australia this year.

In October, a boat was brutally attacked by a scary great white as the enormous beast tried to catch a large tuna fish.

He left the scene after causing the water to be filled with blood and half a tuna sitting in the boat with a huge bite mark in it.

This comes after Stella Berry, 16, was killed in a shark attack in North Fremantle, Australia on Saturday.

After jumping into the Swan River to swim with a dolphin she was fatally attacked by a bull shark in front of her friends.

Stella suffered critical injuries after the shark latched onto her leg, and tragically died on the scene.
