“Coming Back Home..”: Gautam Gambhir Heartbroken After Loss Of Pet Dog

Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir is one of the finest opening batters produced by India in the 21st century. Gambhir was match-winner with the bat, scoring important knocks in the final of the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup as India lifted both the titles. Following his retirement from the sport, Gambhir does unfiltered analysis of games, and has often been too critical of some current India players. However, taking to social media on Saturday, Gambhir expressed his grief at the loss of his pet dog.

Sharing an old picture of him with his pet, Gambhir wrote that he won’t feel the same joy to come back to his home in the absence of his dog.

“Coming back home will never be the same! Farewell, my dear,” Gambhir captioned an old picture on X (Twitter).

Coming back to his cricketing analysi, Gambhir recently said that he is not in favour of over-hyping Yashasvi Jaiswal’s double hundred, saying it increases the pressure of expectation on them, which adversely affects their natural game. 

Jaiswal scored his maiden Test double hundred in the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, becoming the third-youngest Indian to achieve the feat in his nascent-but-remarkable career.

Playing only his sixth Test, the 22-year-old’s sensational knock of 209 off 290 balls single-handedly powered India to 396 all out in 112 overs on the second day of the match.

Jaiswal’s accomplishment marked him as the first Indian left-hander since Gambhir to score a double hundred in the traditional format. Gambhir achieved the feat in 2008 against Australia.

“I want to congratulate the youngster for his achievement but, more importantly, I want to tell everyone that let the young man play. We have seen in the past that in India we have a habit, especially the media, to overhype their achievements and give them tags and make them look like heroes,” Gambhir told PTI during an interaction.

“The pressure of expectation gets the better of them and the players are not able to play their natural game. Let him grow and enjoy his cricket,” added Gambhir.
