Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler fight announcement, details, reaction, UFC 302 main event, Islam Makhachev vs Dustin Poirier

Conor McGregor is officially back.

Speaking after a historic UFC 300 card in Las Vegas, UFC president Dana White confirmed McGregor will be returning against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 30 (AEST).

The bout will take place at T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

It will be fought at 170 pounds.

It comes after McGregor doubled down earlier in the day on his return to the octagon befpre the official announcement after UFC 300.

McGregor, who has long been slated for a bout against Chandler, appeared to confirm via Instagram he would face the former Bellator champ on June 29.

The Irishman wrote: “THE FIGHT IS ON! MCGREGOR VS CHANDLER! See you on the date I said.”

The caption was accompanied with a picture of McGregor facing off against a man dressed in a yellow Teletubby suit as opposed to Chandler himself.

Chandler arrived just hours ahead of the UFC 300 press conference, fuelling whispers his fight against McGregor would be made official.

White also confirmed that UFC 302 would be headlined by a lightweight title bout between Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier, with Sean Strickland and Paulo Costa facing off in a five-round co-main event.
