Draymond Green suspended indefinitely by NBA, Golden State Warriors, striking Jusuf Nrkic, video, criteria to return, latest news

Warriors veteran Draymond Green has been suspended “indefinitely” by the NBA for striking Jusuf Nurkic during Wednesday’s contest (all times AEDT).

Green early in the third quarter received a flagrant foul and was ejected for appearing to swing and hit Nurkic in the head with a closed first in a fiery moment.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports Green will be required to meet a league and team criteria before he can return to the court, while he’s expected to receive counselling and will work with the Warriors and NBA during his suspension.

Green, his agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports and Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. are expected to meet on Friday to discuss a path forward for Green including counselling.

The 33-year old was suspended for five games last month for escalating an on-court altercation with the Minnesota Timberwolves where Green put Rudy Gobert in a headlock. At the time, the league cited Green’s history as a repeat offender as a reason for the length of his ban.

Green has now been ejected three times this season — the most in the NBA — while he has 18 regular season ejections across his career — the most of any active player.

His suspension adds to Golden State’s indifferent 10-13 season to date including the team dropping 11 of its last 15 games to slide to 11th in the Western Conference standings and sit dead-last in the Pacific Division.

Green has averaged 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists from 15 games this season.
