Dual World Cup winner Adam Zampa shows off his new tattoo in major flex by the Australian spinner

Australian World Cup-winning spinner Adam Zampa sure knows how to flex.

Zampa was a key member of Australia’s One-Day World Cup triumph late last year, taking 23 wickets and being named in the Team of the Tournament.

The 31-year-old added that major trophy to the Twenty20 World Cup victory he also helped secure in Dubai two years earlier.

An exceptional and fiercely competitive spinner in white ball cricket, Zampa also adds plenty of colour to the sport through his various hairstyles, an earring, the shades he sometimes wears while bowling and his well known bromance with Marcus Stoinis.

He is happy to say what he thinks and now it seems, he’s happy to make permanent reminders of his achievements judging by his fresh piece of ink.

Zampa has demonstrated he is a fan of Larry David of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Seinfeld fame, the wildly successful comedian and writer known for his dry, acerbic wit.

One of David’s key lines from Curb is a slow, drawn out repetition of the phrase “pretty good” when he is making an assessment.

So Zampa’s tattoo, completed for him by Melbourne tattoo artist Mick Squires, is a depiction of David holding images of those two World Cup trophies with the tagline underneath it, “Pretty good”.

Well played Zamps, well played.

On his Instagram story showing off his new ink, Zampa added the headline “Prettay prettay prettay pretty good”, mimicking David from the show.

The response has been glowing, with a number of fans reposting and commenting on the tattoo.

“Adam Zampa is a real one,” Vithushan Ehantharajah, associate editor of ESPNcricinfo, wrote on a post on X showing off the Insta stories.

“Wow admiration for Zampa just increased ten fold, that is awesome,” was one response.

“Adam Zampa simply has the best vibes of any cricketer to ever live,” was another post.

“Ohk (sic) Zamps I didn’t know your game sir. You win!” added another fan.

Along with his ink, Zampa has also been more than comfortable speaking his mind.

After Australia’s World Cup stunner over India in last year’s final, Zampa scorched Michael Clarke with a late night swipe as the team’s victory celebrations kicked into Day 3.

The Aussie spinner was in a mood for rubbing his critics’ faces in it following his team’s historic victory over India.

The Aussies had no shortage of detractors after opening the tournament with two defeats following a series of pre-tournament defeats to South Africa and India.

The victory over India was described as potentially the greatest ODI win by an Aussie team — and the players’ celebrations matched the achievement.

Zampa, Travis Head and a handful of teammates kicked on with their partying and the former’s attention turned towards Clarke with a stinging roast of the former Test captain.

He posted a quote of a comment Clarke made earlier in the tournament and added some laughing-at-loud emojis.

“If we’re getting shown up like that against South Africa, the spin in the sub continent teams, we will be laughable,” Clarke said at the time.

“If we’re not careful, the conversation we have been having about the Wallabies the last three weeks, we will be having about the Australian cricket team in two weeks’ time. We should have turned up to India in our prime.”

Zampa followed it up with another post that showed him wearing a world champion medal with a caption: “1 spinner 1 winner.”

The comment was in regard to claims Australia had made a mistake by selecting Zampa as the only front-line spinner in its World Cup squad to play on the spin-dominated Indian pitches.

Zampa and his teammates had the last laugh.
