Hundreds flee from ‘active shooter’ as gunshots heard in luxury Siam Paragon shopping mall in Bangkok

HUNDREDS of panicked shoppers fled a shopping mall in Bangkok after gunshots were heard inside.

Thai police said there are people injured after a man armed with a handgun stormed the luxury Siam Paragon Mall this afternoon.

Cops said they were taking control of the situation while an emergency response team said at least one person was injured.

Dramatic footage shared online showed customers running out of the doors of the mall as security guards ushered them out.

One of the videos showed people taking cover in a darkened room inside a restaurant.

While in another gunshots can be heard clearly.

Shocked onlookers said they had heard “five or six” shots in the centre of the Thai capital shortly after 4pm local time.

At least one injured person was seen being carried from the mall shortly after.

Security guards were seen directing panic-stricken locals from the exit through the car park.

Other shoppers were stuck inside the building – hiding inside shops with their shutters pulled down.

Police have now closed the building.

Police spokesperson Achayon Kraithong said the national police chief had ordered and dispatched officers to control the area to resolve the situation.
