I opened my online banking to find £80MILLION had been put into my account… then I was locked out so couldn’t spend it

A WOMAN became a multi-millionaire overnight when she discovered £80 million were mysteriously deposited to her account.

Hafidzah Abdullah checked her personal account at Malaysia’s biggest bank, Maybank, late last month.

The accidental millionaire found that she had 404,040,404,04 Malaysian ringgit in credit on her checking account.

Considering that the average household income in the country is a little over £1400 per month, the hefty sum sounds like a jackpot.

The lucky recipient of the sizeable fortune posted about her discovery on Linkedin.

She captioned the screenshot of her muilti-million account balance with: ” You’d think I hit the lottery, right?

“Well, not really- It is glitches!!!”

But the miraculous accident soon turned into a nightmare for Hafidzah.

The woman didn’t get to spend a penny, and instead, her account got blocked without a warning.

Unable to access even her own funds, the frustrated bank client went on to rant to the social media.

She wrote: ” They say money can’t buy happiness, but Maybank knows how to buy frustration.”

The bank has £160 million in assets and owns 2,200 branches across 20 countries, primarily in South East Asia.

Hafidzah expressed her frustration over the glitch that lasted three days.

She couldn’t access her personal and company accounts, and called out Maybank to fix the issue.

“Three days of Maybank glitches during salary payout period is like a comedy of errors that no one finds funny,” she added.

The distressed woman also told how visiting the bank has become her “new daily exercise routine”.

“To unlock it, I had to visit the nearest Maybank branch & the officer had to call customer service to unblock it – which took forever & this is not my mistake!” Hafidzah explained.

Some people commented on the post, agreeing that the bank has poor customer service.

One person said: “I’ve encountered a very similar situation, and it took quite a while to get it unblocked.”

Another suggested to sue, commenting: “What was their justification for suspending your account? To correct their error?
Take them to court.”

Others took time to joke that the erroneous sum points out to “Error 404”, an infamous error message that appears on computers.

“Should be quite obvious to the bank that it’s “Error 404″ ,” one user wrote.

The bank representative responded to the post and resolved the issue.

Similarly, a woman in the US had £40,000 wired to her account by mistake.

But unlike Hafidzah, this story had a happy ending with the fortunate receiver going on a wild spending spree and keeping the cash.

Another miracle money transfer happened when a student was given an £850,000 university grant instead of £85,000 by mistake.

She thought it was a gift from God and treated her friends to iPhones and champagne, splashing her newfound fortune over 73 days.
