Pizza Hut reveals new SNAKE MEAT pie leaving fans horrified – but some say it tastes similar to much more common topping

PIZZA HUT has left fans feeling sick to their stomach after they released a new topping that “ought to be against the law.”

To the horror of many customers the popular restaurant added a pizza with shredded snake meat and fishy sauce to its menu.

The exotic version of the Italian classic is only available in Hong Kong  as many of the locals enjoy snake stew.

Some even believe it has medicinal properties and can improve skin conditions and boost circulation.

Pizza Hut Hong Kong said: “Paired with cheese and diced chicken, the snake meat becomes richer in taste.”

And added: “Combined with pizza, it marks a breakthrough from the conventional concept of what maintaining good health means while challenging one’s taste buds.”

But despite the rumoured health benefits the new pizza has the internet outraged.

“They should be banned from making pizza,” said one furious X user, “No thanks, I’m not eating that,” wrote another.

However some weren’t fazed by the idea of a snaky pizza, with one joking: “As long as they don’t put pineapple on it,” while another said: “Nice, adjusting to the local market , every chain does that.”

The 9-inch pie, which comes with abalone sauce instead of the conventional tomato base, is on sale until November 22.

Pizza Hut decided to add it to the menu after they partnered with Ser Wong Fun – a snake restaurant in Central Hong Kong.

The chain has taken advice from them about which species’ would make the tastiest toppings and these include Chinese rat snakes, banded kraits, and white banded snakes.

Karen Chan, general manager of Pizza Hut Hong Kong said “The extraordinary snake pizzas offer a perfect balance to all flavours, both tantalising and savoury for this season.”

According to a saying in the local Cantonese dialect, the best time to eat snake is “when the autumn wind begins to blow.”

This is because that’s when they’ve fattened up to prepare for hibernation – so fans of the meat the should seize the moment!

Hong Kong Resident Mabel Sieh, a self-described foodie, said: “I think it’s scary.

“Snakes aren’t food in many cultures, especially in the West.”

But Hong Kong native Rachel Wong, a big fan of snake soup since she had her first bowl when she was a kid, is excited about the new item on the menu.

“The texture is a bit like chicken and tastes like fish and other kinds of seafood. So I love having it as a high protein meal during winter,” she said.

In the past, Pizza Hut in Taiwan introduced pizzas made with durian, pig blood curds, and preserved eggs – ingredients that play a big role in the local culinary culture.

This is not the only controversial food that has made the news recently.

Last month we told of a man who feeds his son raw bull testicles and insists it’s “healthy”.

The man believes babies have “a natural” sense of what food is good for them and thinks the raw flesh makes his son have a grander stature than other kids the same age.
