The Panthers may not get Nathan Cleary immediately after this week’s bye, with the star halfback reportedly in some doubt for the Round 7 clash against the Tigers and beyond.
According to the SMH, Cleary has had a setback, with his hamstring injury recovering slower than anticipated.
Penrith have stressed that Cleary hasn’t aggravated the hamstring, only that his recovery isn’t progressing as quickly as they would have liked.
The Panthers play the Tigers next weekend before a trip to Townsville in Round 8 and a date with the Cowboys.
Penrith are 1-1 in Cleary’s absence, defeating the Roosters before a heavy loss to the Sea Eagles last week.
Brad Schneider is deputising for Cleary, with the young half so far doing a good job in the No. 7 jersey.
