DEBUT CONFIRMED FOR NEW BLUE

Blues onballer Elijah Hollands has been confirmed to make his club debut against North Melbourne on Good Friday.

The 2020 No.7 draft choice, who is available for selection for the first time this season after serving a two-game suspension for breaching the AFL’s Illicit Drugs Policy, is expected to play a forward-midfield hybrid role in Michael Voss’ side.

Hollands, 21, crossed to Princes Park from Carrara in the off-season — having played 14 AFL games for Gold Coast — joining brother, Ollie, who announced his sibling’s maiden selection at training on Thursday.

Joining Hollands in the Blues’ line-up this Friday will be returning defender Jacob Weitering, who has recovered from his pre-season calf setback.

Fellow backman Caleb Marchbank (illness) and livewire forward Jesse Motlop (toe) will also be available for selection against the Kangaroos.

PROMISING HAWK ‘DESERVES’ CHANCE AMID ‘CERTAIN’ CHANGES

Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell says emerging onballer Henry Hustwaite “deserves” a senior recall.

While the Hawks don’t play until Easter Monday — when they clash with rival Geelong at the MCG — changes are “certainly” coming following an uninspiring Round 3 display against Melbourne.

“There’ll certainly be some changes to the side this week,” Mitchell confirmed to reporters on Thursday.

“(Hustwaite) has been in really good form, we’ll (complete) selection in the next couple of days, but he should be feeling like he deserves a game.

“Does that mean he comes in, or not? Give us a couple more days, we’ll let you know.”

The 19-year-old played two games in his rookie season last year after being drafted to Waverley with Pick 37 in 2022.

OLIVER AVOIDS CONCERN AFTER TRAINING MISHAP

Despite a finger dislocation suffered at training, superstar Melbourne midfielder Clayton Oliver is expected to be available for selection against Port Adelaide this Saturday.

Scans revealed the ailment after the prolific onballer departed training early at Casey Fields on Wednesday.

However, as assistant coach Troy Chaplin joked to SEN SA: “Not too much is going to keep ‘Clarry’ out. He’s a pretty tough bugger, so he should be right to go (against the Power).”

Meanwhile, senior coach Simon Goodwin is “really confident” sore defender Jake Lever will travel to Adelaide to play the Power after tweaking his knee in an awkward landing last weekend.

Fellow star defender Steven May, on the other hand, may only miss one game despite suffering rib and transverse process fractures against Hawthorn in Round 2.

SAINTS’ LIKELY INCLUSIONS FOR FORCED OUTS

AFL Media journalist Josh Gabelich has reported forwards Anthony Caminiti and Dan Butler will replace the outgoing Max King and Liam Henry for St Kilda’s bout with Essendon on Saturday.

King will serve a one-game suspension for bumping Collingwood’s Fin Macrae last Thursday, while Henry will miss a significant stint of football after suffering a high-grade hamstring strain against the Magpies.

Wingman Mason Wood, meantime, will undergo surgery following a nasty collarbone injury. He was also concussed during the same confronting incident.
