The Spanish couple, with dual Brazilian nationality, were exploring South Asia on a motorcycle in the evening before they were attacked.

The primary motive of the attackers was to sexually assault the woman, it has been alleged.

Disturbing footage shows the 31-year-old woman terrified as she recounts the harrowing experience.

“There were seven men and they raped me,” said the victim.

“They robbed thrashed us and robbed us, but their main aim was to rape me.”

“They brutally thrashed us,” her Brazilian husband added in Spanish.

“Also, they put a knife around my neck and told me that they would kill me.

“We are at the hospital with police. It happened tonight here in India.”

Cops have so far arrested three suspects, while the other four still remain at large.

Authorities revealed that one of the arrested suspects had confessed to the crime and provided significant information regarding the fugitives.

A manhunt has been launched to find the remaining men.

Chief of Cops Pitambar Singh Kherwar said: “The patrolling team sensed that something had happened to them.

“Since they were speaking in Spanish, the police could not understand what they were saying. The policemen brought them to a local hospital.”

“The investigation started as soon as we received the information. We spoke to the victim.

“We detained some people and during interrogation, they admitted their involvement.

“The accused also took some other names. We have formed a team and raids are being conducted to nab the other accused.”

The Spanish couple were on an Asia tour, it has been understood.

The Brazilian embassy in New Delhi said: “[The embassy] confirms that a Brazilian citizen – with dual Spanish nationality – and her Spanish husband were victims of a serious criminal attack in the Jharkhand state, northeast India, this weekend.

“At the same time, given the information about dual nationality, the Brazilian embassy coordinated with the Spanish embassy, which said it had been contacted by the local authorities since both had entered India with Spanish passports.”

The Spanish embassy said that it had offered all the assistance available, including psychological care, but that the victims had declined the offer as they were already being looked after by the Indian emergency services.

It is understood that the couple entered India through West Bengal after travelling through Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

They had plans to visit Bihar before continuing to Nepal.
